All About Lexiles
Commonlit
Find all things Lexile at the official site.

Commonlit provides an amazing collection of nonfiction articles,
​poetry, and short stories. Each selection has  a quiz and discussion questions,  and teachers can activate guiding questions within the text itself.  The student progress page breaks down the results of the quizzes and shows overall student performance.
The Day USA
​The Day USA is an online news service that features 
leading news stories of the day. Each article gives a
​summary 
of the news, and includes questions to ponder
​and links to other reliable sources.
The Learning Network
From the New York Times, a curated collection of world news with lesson plans, writing prompts, visual literacy activities and so much more. All students can view the site, but they must be 13 or older to use the comments. 

Newsela
Newsela provides leveled news articles and informational text from sources such as the Washington Post. Teachers must register their classes to allow students to read assigned articles and take quizzes.
PBS News Hour

The Tween Tribune
The Smithsonian Institution provides a daily news site that focuses on current events, history, art, culture and science. Read the FAQ's here to find out about registering classes to take advantage of other features. Clicking here will direct you to the Smithsonian site.
