Eagle Readers/AR

Accelerated Reader is Chaminade’s number one reading program. Accelerated Readers earn points, certificates, and recognition by reading books and taking computerized quizzes. Once they have successfully taken five quizzes, they gain the status of Eagle Reader.  The student with the most AR points at the end of eighth grade receives the coveted Library Reading Award at graduation. Watch this video for instructions on how to take a quiz.
The vast majority of the books in the library have these quizzes available for the students.
Eagle Readers
Chaminade’s Eagle Readers are all of the dedicated readers and those who are interested in expanding their reading interests. Students can become Eagle Readers in one of two ways. The first is by reading five Accelerated Reader books at the appropriate point level (4.0 or above) and then achieving a score of at least 80% on the Accelerated Reader Quiz. Alternately, they can write book reviews for the library web page; guidelines for these reviews can be found in the library. To recognize their commitment to reading, students who complete five quizzes and/or reviews earn a patch and receive a small reward at the end of the month in which they earn their patches. They are also invited to breakout workshops with our guest author. At the end of the year, all are celebrated with a Pizza Patch Party.
